The Idea Works, known locally as "that lighting shop", has been in Gillingham, Dorset since early 2001. On the outside edge of town, on New Road (Gillingham to East Stour road), you won't be able to help yourself staring through the showroom windows if you drive or walk past, as you idly say to yourself 'I must go in there sometime'.

We offer an extensive range of items for the home - luxurious fluffy sheepskin cushions & flokati rugs, a never ending supply of ceramic vases & platters, retro style furniture, without even mentioning our own range of lighting! (to name just a few things).

We are a factory shop for our own products - hard lamps & shades. Offering a possible combination of over 14,000 items, just as our standard range, as well as being able to create bespoke and one off shades to your own specifications, with your own materials / wallpapers, or ours, or any digital image...yes, if you need a lampshade, we're where you need to be ! As a factory shop, we nearly always have a 'sale' on our own products that are pre-made (most shades we create-to-order), with up to 50% off the list price! That's like a 2 for 1 deal!

With off-street car parking (we can squeeze 6 or so cars into the forecourt), as well as just a short walk from the High Street, there's no reason not to stop by if you're in town!
